The tragedy is believed to have originated in 1603. It tells the story of how the love of two people gets destroyed by one person's obsessive behaviour. The noble and brave man is confronted by the passionate and revenge seeking person that is full of hate and racism. It has been adapted by many literature and film productions. Its plot is very relevant to the present day as it touches the very areas of human nature.
Over-filled with racism, love and jealousy makes an impact on the audience and leaves them with something to think about. The English actress Kacey Ainsworth has joined the cast of Carrie's War. She is well-known for playing the long-suffering Little Mo in the BBC soap opera EastEnders.
Furthermore, Kacey Ainsworth is the only actress who has won three Soap Actress awards in one single year 2002.
Carrie's war show will perform at the Apollo Theatre from 24 June to 12 September 2009 with the preview on 18 June.
The play is based on Nina Bawden's famous 1973 novel and tells the timeless story of Carrie Willow; a young girl evacuated from London during World War II. Carrie and her younger brother Nick Willow are billeted to the mining valleys in Wales, where they meet a range of eccentric and mystical creatures. Returning as an adult, Carrie's memories come alive whisking us on a breathtaking journey into the past!
The spectacular cast includes Sarah Edwardson in the title role, Prunella Scales as Mrs Gotobed, Amanda Symonds as the witch and James Beddard as Mr Johnny. The cast is completed by John Heffernan as Albert Sandwich, James Joyce as Nick, Daniel Llewelyn-Williams as Major Harper and Sion Tudor Owen as Mr Evans.
